Educational and Developmental Assessments

MDB’s team of specialist assessors provides comprehensive educational and developmental assessments for children and adolescents who are experiencing learning, behavioral, or emotional challenges. Referrals for assessment may come from schools, concerned parents seeking a greater understanding of their child, or internally from our own psychologists or psychiatrists as part of a broader care plan. Our goal is to understand the whole child —not just test scores—by exploring how cognitive, academic, emotional, and environmental factors interact to impact a student’s functioning.

Our process is grounded in a multidisciplinary, individualized, and culturally responsive framework. No two children are alike, and we believe that assessment should reflect that. We tailor each evaluation to the specific concerns, history, and strengths of the child, drawing on the expertise of psychologists, educational specialists, and—when relevant-other allied professionals.

We place strong emphasis on collaboration and communication. From the initial consultation through to the final feedback, we work closely with families and schools to ensure that assessment findings are well-understood and can translate into meaningful support strategies.

Parents and caregivers are engaged throughout the process, and we routinely collaborate with teachers, learning support teams, and allied professionals to gather input and share recommendations. We recognize that lasting change happens when all parties are on the same page and committed to a shared understanding of the child’s needs.

• Learning and academic achievement
• Intellectual functioning (IQ) and cognitive processing
• Attention and executive functioning
• Fine and gross motor skills, coordination, and sensory integration
• Language, communication, and literacy
• Oral-Motor skills – including feeding and swallowing
• Social-emotional development and behavioral regulation
• Visual and auditory processing, memory, and problem-solving

Our reports are more than just summaries of scores-they offer clear, accessible insights into a child’s learning profile and practical recommendations to guide intervention, accommodations, or future planning.

We aim to ensure our findings lead to action: whether that means support in the classroom, referrals for intervention, or the development of individualized learning or behavioral support plans. Our team is available to consult with schools, attend planning meetings, and help bridge the gap between assessment and real-world support.

Assessment of cognitive abilities

We carry out curriculum-based assessments, assess attention and memory, perceptual abilities, learning difficulties such as dyslexia, voice disorders, speech and language delays, and achievement assessments. Some of the assessments and treatments we offer include, but are not limited to:

Development of psycho-educational reports

We offer thorough assessments and reports for children who may be having difficulties at school or children who are doing “too” well and subsequently getting bored in class. We assess children’s cognitive, academic, memory, and attention strengths and weaknesses. Our aim is to provide a thorough assessment which takes into account information from a number of sources and considers different explanations for child’s standing. We aim to make recommendations that will assist children and their families to do the best they can do. We ask families and schools to give us feedback on the assessments and reports and try to use this information to improve our service .

Home School Plan

We help parents develop, implement, monitor and re-evaluate homeschool plans under the supervision of our specialists. Parents hoping to provide quality education for their children in an affordable, religiously, and morally aligned manner may be interested in such services.

Individual Education Plan

After a thorough assessment and screening process, our multidisciplinary team collaborates to determine the next steps and develop the most comprehensive intervention plan. Each plan is personalized to address the client’s unique behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and academic needs.
